Hey, thanks for stopping by! Welcome to FIThinking, a blog where I’ll be talking about anything and everything regarding fitness, nutrition, personal finance, and overall well-being. Let me introduce myself first, though.
First and foremost, I’m a father of 3 awesome kids and husband to an amazing wife for 4 years as of this posting. I’m a huge nerd and have loved video games and East Asian cultures my entire life. I was fortunate enough to live in Japan for 2 years while I was in the Air Force and have seen and experienced more than I would have ever dreamt as a kid.
I’ve got plenty to share and can’t wait for you to read it all, but before sending you off to explore I’d like to outline my plan for this site so you know what to expect as a reader of this fine literature.
Why a Blog?
Glad you asked! I’m doing this because mentorship and coaching are two of the things that have brought me the most happiness in life. Helping people grow as individuals and leaders has been my passion professionally, but my reach is limited. With FIThinking I aim to share the information and experience I’ve gained along the way with one purpose in mind: helping my readers achieve and become more.
I’ve accumulated quite a bit of experience in my time on this wonderful blue planet, but I’ve never made an effort to give back. So that’s what I’m doing now.
All Right. What Can I Expect From FIThinking?
Well, when it comes to content I’ll plan on alternating weekly themes – a week of fitness knowledge here, a financial independence post there. I plan to tell you the things that would have helped me get to where I am today faster. My strongest passions involve taking care of my health and fitness (so I can be here for as long as possible for my family), optimizing my finances with a focus on early retirement, and making sure that I’m living the best life possible with the time that I have.
These passions have led me down many paths. I’ve read books, on books, on books about many topics – real estate investing, financial independence, stocks and index funds, leadership, lifestyle optimization, exercise, nutrition…You name it, I’ve probably read something about it. I’ve even dabbled in string theory and the study of the cosmos, but those are way outside my wheelhouse – I’ll hold off from discussing those topics here!
How is this relevant? All of that research has helped me to build a life for myself that is SO GOOD! So if I can spread that knowledge and help even one person be better off after reading one of my articles, I will have done my job and can rest easy.
In order to keep things spicy, I may invite guest posters from time to time. They may cover one of many topics, but it will always be relevant to the philosophy I want to breathe through FIThinking: We can all be better, happy, healthy, and successful as long as we put in the effort to grow. And the process doesn’t have to be terrible!

It’s a great opener to the whole idea of this site and highlights positivity, an abundance mindset, and the real value that focusing on the goodness we all have in life (even if we don’t feel it) can bring every day.
